Congress Trade Disclosure
Last updated: August 30, 2026

Congress Trade Disclosure (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent Android application that helps users browse publicly available U.S. House financial-disclosure records. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the App, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.

Information We Handle

Information you choose to provide

If you contact us through the App’s Support screen, the App opens your email application with contact.mirro@gmail.com as the recipient. Any name, email address, message, attachments, or other information you send is handled by your email provider and may be received by us so that we can respond to your request. We do not collect this information unless you choose to send it.

Information stored on your device

The App stores limited settings locally on your device, including whether you accepted the App’s disclaimer, whether disclosure tracking is enabled, the tracking interval you select, filing dates used to identify newly reported filings, and whether the App currently recognizes a Pro entitlement. This information is used to operate the App and is not sent to us by the App as part of these local settings.

Public disclosure-record data

When you search, the App downloads and reads publicly available U.S. House financial-disclosure indexes from the Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives. The App may temporarily store a downloaded index in its app cache while processing it. When you open a filing, the App retrieves the original public PDF record. These records are public records, not information submitted by you.

Automatically collected information by service providers

Third-party services integrated into the App may automatically collect or receive information such as device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, app and device information, diagnostic information, and usage or event information. The exact information and retention period are controlled by the relevant provider and may vary by device, operating-system settings, region, and the provider’s own policies.

How We Use Information

We use or enable the use of information to:

  • provide search, display, and tracking features for public disclosure records;
  • send disclosure-tracking and service notifications when you enable or allow them;
  • process, restore, and verify Pro purchases through Google Play;
  • understand app performance, diagnose crashes, prevent misuse, and improve the App; and
  • respond to support requests you send to us.

Third-Party Services and Disclosures

The App uses or links to the following third-party services. These providers may process information under their own privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase. The App uses Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Cloud Messaging. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics help us understand app usage and reliability; Cloud Messaging provides push-notification functionality. See Google’s Firebase privacy information.
  • Google Play Billing. If you purchase or restore Pro, Google Play processes the transaction and provides purchase-status information needed to unlock or restore the feature. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google Drive PDF Viewer and Android WebView. When you open a disclosure PDF, the App loads it through Google Drive’s embedded viewer in an Android WebView. Google and the site hosting the document may receive information such as your IP address, browser or WebView information, and the document URL. Their policies apply to that processing.
  • Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives. The App retrieves public filing indexes and documents from the House Clerk’s financial-disclosure website. That website may collect connection and access information under its own policies.

We do not sell personal information for money or use personal information for targeted advertising.

Notifications

The App requests notification permission so it can send disclosure-tracking alerts and receive push notifications. You can decline or later disable notifications in Android system settings. You can turn off the App’s disclosure tracker from within the App. Disabling a notification does not necessarily remove an already-created Firebase messaging token; app data can be cleared from Android settings to remove locally stored App data.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local App settings remain on your device until you change them, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App. Temporary downloaded disclosure files are used for processing and are deleted after processing when possible. Support emails are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to address the request, maintain records, and meet legal obligations. Third-party providers retain information according to their own policies.

You can delete locally stored App information by using Android’s Clear storage or Clear data option for the App, or by uninstalling it. For support-email requests, contact us using the address below. Requests relating to information held by Google or another provider may need to be directed to that provider.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, deletion of, correction of, or information about personal information we hold about you; to object to or restrict certain processing; or to appeal a decision concerning a privacy request. Because we generally receive personal information from you only when you email us, these rights will usually apply to correspondence you send. To make a request, email contact.mirro@gmail.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We may need to verify your request before responding.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures intended to protect information under our control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive information through unencrypted email.

International Processing

Third-party service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they or their service providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect is subject to the updated policy.
