Certificate Viewer
Privacy Policy for Certificate Viewer
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Certificate Viewer ("the app," "we," "us," or "our") helps you inspect the TLS/SSL certificate presented by a hostname and port that you choose. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the app, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.
Summary
- Certificate checks and reports are performed on your device.
- We do not require an account and do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, files, or location.
- We do not receive or store the hostnames, ports, certificate details, or reports that you inspect.
- The app displays ads through Google Mobile Ads. Google may collect and process certain device and usage data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, as described below.
Information handled to provide certificate checks
When you enter a hostname and port and tap the check button, the app uses that information to make a network connection to the server you selected and retrieve its TLS certificate. It then displays a report that can include the server's IP address, certificate issuer and subject, validity dates, subject alternative names, public-key and signature information, certificate-chain details, and a SHA-256 fingerprint.
This processing takes place on your device. Certificate Viewer does not send the hostname, port, certificate report, or its results to servers operated by us, and it does not create a user profile from this information. The server you choose to inspect, your DNS resolver, and your network provider may separately receive or process connection information (including your IP address and the requested hostname) under their own privacy practices.
Information stored on your device
The app stores only a local count of completed report requests. This count is used to determine when to show an interstitial advertisement. It is not linked by us to your identity or certificate reports. You can remove it by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
Advertising
Certificate Viewer uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display banner and interstitial ads. Google and its advertising partners may collect and process information such as your device's IP address (which may be used to estimate general location), advertising or app-set identifiers, ad and app interaction data (for example, ad views or taps), and diagnostic information. This information may be used for ad delivery, measurement and analytics, personalization where permitted, and fraud prevention.
Advertising data is handled by Google under Google's policies. You can learn more in the Google Privacy Policy and Google’s Mobile Ads SDK data-disclosure guidance. You may be able to reset or delete your Android advertising ID, limit ad personalization, or manage other advertising preferences through your device and Google account settings. Available controls vary by device, Android version, region, and account settings.
Sharing a certificate report
The app has an optional Share button. If you choose to use it, the report is passed to the app or service you select using Android's sharing feature. Certificate Viewer does not control how the selected recipient handles that information; please review that recipient's privacy policy before sharing.
Permissions
The app uses the Internet permission so it can connect to the hostname and port you request and load advertising. It does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files, precise location, or phone state.
Data retention and security
We do not operate a service that receives or retains your certificate-check inputs or reports. Information you view remains on your device unless you choose to share it. Google retains advertising-related data according to its own policies and settings. Although we take reasonable steps to limit data handling as described here, no internet transmission or electronic storage method is completely secure.
Children's privacy
Certificate Viewer is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Because the app displays third-party ads, parents and guardians should supervise use by children.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights concerning personal data processed by third parties. Because Certificate Viewer does not collect or retain your certificate-check data on our servers, we generally cannot access, correct, or delete that data for you. For advertising-related data and choices, please use Google's privacy controls and the settings available on your Android device.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated version at this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Please review this page periodically.
